Stitch Studio By Nicole Storybook Lullaby Yarn Review

June 17, 2017 by Robin, Avon Rep and Owner at Imperial Crochet

I bought my Stitch Studio by Nicole Storybook Lullaby yarn at A.C. Moore the other day. I’m using it to make a baby blanket. I had never used this yarn before but they were having an awesome sale (5 for $10.00) so I decided to give it a try.

I chose the bright and sunny yellow color named “Duckling” for my project because it’s gender neutral, not to mention really pretty!  It’s a solid color with no variations in it at all.  I only noticed that there was a dye lot after I got it home but luckily, all of my hanks matched.

I love that they named this color Duckling!

Yarn Review

I found the Storybook Lullaby yarn very smooth to work with.  It basically slides through my fingers while hooking.  It reminds me a bit of the Caron Simply Soft because of the texture and the fact that it has a really nice sheen to it.

The yarn is fairly even throughout.  With my first skein under my belt, I only noticed a little bit of difference a couple of times. I’ve read complaints about fuzziness and I did experience a little bit of that but not enough to turn me off of this yarn. The yarn strands did come apart on me a couple of times but once I realized that it might happen, I adjusted the way I turned my hook when pulling through a stitch and all was fine after that.

I’ve also read complaints about an extreme yarn barf and knotting when starting a new skein but after using two skeins, I really didn’t experience that at all.

The color in the photo below is actually a bit off (the real life color is much closer to the photo above) but in this photo you can see a close up of the sheen and yarn strands.

Here’s a close-up view that captures the pretty sheen.

Storybook Lullaby is a light 3 weight yarn that calls for a US G/6 4mm hook but I’ve used a US I/9 5.50mm hook on this project.  My crochet project is turning out super soft but I think next time I’ll use a hook that’s closer to the recommended size because as you probably already know, with gorgeous sheen comes a little slippage and my stitches are ending up a bit looser than I’d really like them to be.

Because AC Moore doesn’t have an online store, (they do have a site set up for projects) the only place I could find a listing of all the Storybook Lullaby yarn colors available was at Ravelry.  You can see it HERE.

The Storybook Lullaby yarn collection is perfect for making things for messy little ones because it’s 100% acrylic and completely machine washable.  They recommend tumble drying your finished items on the low – gentle setting.

Yellow Duckling Storybook Lullaby Yarn

The beautiful bright yellow Duckling color brightens my day while I use it too!

All in all, I will definitely be using this yarn again… and again… especially if they keep running those awesome sales on it.

You can find a slew of projects for using Stitch Studio yarn at the AC Moore website.

P.S.  I was not paid nor did I receive any compensation for doing this yarn review.  I bought it myself and wanted to share my thoughts with you, my readers.

Have you ever used Stitch Studio by Nicole Storybook Lullaby yarn?  If you did, what did you think of it?  Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.  I love hearing from my readers.

Until next time, keep those crochet hooks moving!

Wishing you only the best,

I really have struggled with yarn. Every skein is difficult to start an then when you do it is filled with static. At first I thought it was me, the air in the house, etc but it is this yarn & every skein. It literally clings to me and gets strangled very easily. I love their colors but won’t purchase anymore
